I turned 27 This Week

My birthday this year was pretty low key. I usually have a count down and get pretty excited. But after planning and anticipating Barker's 1st Birthday, I was happy to take a break from birthday excitement.

It was also the first year I haven't seen my parents and siblings within the week of my birthday. (It's around Thanksgiving so we're always getting together then! =))

It was rainy and I spent the day inside with the little guy. We had fun though. (He wore me out ;))

Then Brett made me a special dinner.

And gave me a giant box of chocolates.

We finished the evening by watching Captain America.

Nothing too fancy, but just right for 27.

Car Drama Part II

I recently wrote about my husband's truck getting stolen. (Click here for that story)

Now, here's an update!

On Thursday night (just after the baby was put to bed) my husband got a call from the police. His truck had been found!
A friend drove him to meet the police where the car was. It was "hidden" on an abandoned lot in a sketchy part of town.

The police dusted the whole thing for prints, and Brett unlocked the truck. (Yup, the perps had some how driven off the car, hid it, and locked it.) There was no sign of hot-wiring! This means, someone out there has another key?

Nothing, I mean NOTHING had been stolen. The car was simply taken and hidden.

I guess the cops found it in time.

Of course, we were both pretty weirded out by the incident. The truck seemed tainted and we didn't know if they might come back for it.

Yesterday, Brett rinsed off the car and we took it to a dealer.

And now? We own a brand new Ram. Brett's pretty excited about it, and it does drive very smoooothly. ;)

I guess it all worked out! But now we have another problem on our hands...an adorable little pick-pocketer!

I love this little guy so much.

I love that he loves books. =)

Ten Apples Up On Top is his favorite!

Our little stud

It was super windy, the balloons did not cooperate, but we got a few cute shots. =)

Our giggly boy!
Smash Cake Time!

I made him the onsie and the cupcake.

He loved it.

Car Drama

Who knew how busy it could get running around with a one year old. ;) (Sorry I've been lacking on the posts lately)

So here is something crazy that happened this week and had nothing to do with having a little one.

On Tuesday Morning I was in my pajamas and Barker was eating breakfast when Brett came down and hugged us goodbye before leave to fly to CA for a couple days. (He's been traveling for work a lot lately, another reason I've been extra preoccupied, but luckily that's over for a short bit.)

I watched Brett walk out the door, then locked it behind him and went into the kitchen. A couple minutes later he was back at the door. "Umm, Shara, is something missing?" he said. I was a confused until I saw it...his truck was gone.

Yup, Brett's truck had been stolen right out of driveway in the middle of the night.

Needless to say it was rather shocking. Brett checked and we have all of the keys, and we have not missed any payments. The police came a few minutes later to officially file the report/ give us a case number.

Now we just wait for the insurance claim to go through so we can start finding a new truck. (And carseat.)

We are also double checking the locks at night now. (I kind of did that already, but it's nice that Brett finally realizes the importance of checking the doors every night ;))

Thank you God that there as nothing more valuable in the truck and we are all safe and sound.

One Project at a Time

I have a lot of "hobbies" and things that I enjoy.
Since having my son last year I've discovered, that I can only choose one project to work on a day. (Maaaaybe two)

My main "projects" are reading a book, knitting, scrapbooking. As Barker is becoming more independent I am able to do a little more knitting and scrapbooking while he is playing, but reading is something I can only do when he sleeps.

Unfortunately, reading has had to take the back burner this past month as I've been scrapbooking like crazy! I am almost done with Barker's first year album! It is a 10x10 photobook on shutterfly and I'm using the max number of pages. haha All I have left to do is add the pictures from his one year photo shoot (once I get them), do a little arranging and finish the last few pages!

While I am waiting I am finishing up our yearly family album. It's going to have to be a lot simpler this year though because it's already November and I'm just getting to April! I've got to get it done in 2 months! Here is a link to our family album from 2013:

It's sad leaving reading behind for now, but soon Barker will have a longer attention span for us to read together... haha

In the meantime, I'm enjoying knitting fun baby items and scrapbooking photos of my little cutie pie.

Barker's First Birthday!

I haven't posted in a bit because this past week has been a whirlwind of birthday festivities for my little Barker Bear!

He turned one on Tuesday (Nov. 4th) but we were busy all weekend.

On Saturday my parents were here and then my older sister arrived. In the morning Barker had his one year old pictures and in the afternoon I was busy baking his cake.

On Sunday was his party! With the time change and the random cold spell in Florida (it lasted just 2 days) his party was a little different from what I had expected but we had fun!

It was a Beach Theme! (And he wore two sweaters because of the chill, haha.)

We served food out of beach buckets.

Decorated with orange and blue streamers.

Had a party hat decorating table.

And even had a baby ball pit!

Oh and my pinterest inspired bears at the beach cake. =)

I think Barker enjoyed it.

I love my curious, cutie-pie One Year Old!
